Her writing seeks to create a safe and welcoming space for individuals seeking spiritual understanding and a closer relationship with the divine.
00:01:43.950 --> 00:01:47.483
Laura, thank you so much for coming on the show today.
00:01:48.484 --> 00:01:50.370
Well, thank you, Dorsey, for having me.
00:01:50.370 --> 00:01:51.412
I appreciate it.
00:01:51.840 --> 00:02:05.852
Absolutely, and, as my guests know, I always open up with an icebreaker question, and today's icebreaker question is what's the best compliment you ever received?
00:02:07.581 --> 00:02:10.187
Oh, wow, that's a big question.
00:02:10.187 --> 00:02:13.930
The best compliment I've ever received?
00:02:13.930 --> 00:02:20.567
Okay, I'm going to have to go with the best most recent compliment I've received, one of the ladies from my church.
00:02:20.567 --> 00:02:21.550
She's in my choir group.
00:02:21.550 --> 00:02:25.169
I've been getting her to read the book for a while.
00:02:25.169 --> 00:02:26.481
She said she's going to.
00:02:26.481 --> 00:02:36.807
She finally started reading it and she came to me in just complete, utter awe it's the only way I can describe it.
00:02:36.807 --> 00:02:42.045
She looked at me and she said Laura, that is an amazing book.
00:02:42.045 --> 00:02:44.971
You've written so insightful, so well-written.
00:02:44.971 --> 00:02:47.080
I just I can't believe it.
00:02:47.080 --> 00:02:50.027
And I, you know, and part of me goes, part of me goes.
00:02:50.027 --> 00:02:53.762
Well, okay, do people not think that I can do that?
00:02:53.762 --> 00:03:00.074
But she was so sincere, so absolutely sincere, that you know it's like.
00:03:00.074 --> 00:03:07.030
And when people come to you and tell you that you did something great and wonderful, then you know it's nothing.
00:03:07.030 --> 00:03:10.975
But you know, inspiring to myself, right.
00:03:12.441 --> 00:03:15.009
Why are you passionate about what you do?
00:03:17.301 --> 00:03:26.280
I think I'm passionate because of my son, my son.
00:03:26.280 --> 00:03:40.593
So to give you a little information about you know how I got to where I am with writing this book, my son, who's a very loving, kind, big hearted, uh, young man, about six years ago, when he was about 16 or so, he came to me one day and he said, mom, I don't think, I believe anymore.
00:03:40.593 --> 00:03:43.306
And and I'm like, what do you mean?
00:03:43.306 --> 00:03:55.781
And it took him a lot of strength to come to me and tell me that and we talked about it for like a good hour, I would say about you know what made him not believe?
00:03:55.781 --> 00:03:58.826
And he's gone to church, he went to religious ed classes.
00:03:58.826 --> 00:04:24.543
You know, he just in his school he was a scientific, you know type kid and very much into those type of classes computer, et cetera and he had classmates that just simply didn't believe and apparently a lot of stuff that they teach in school is very non, non, god, non, you know, supernatural, not any.
00:04:24.543 --> 00:04:28.831
And for him he that's what he was hearing, that's what he heard.
00:04:28.831 --> 00:04:39.245
So the last thing I told him was, if I can find information, he wanted some proof, some tangible proof.
00:04:39.245 --> 00:04:42.290
And he goes if I can find you something, would you listen to me?
00:04:42.290 --> 00:04:45.154
Would you listen to what I'm telling you?
00:04:45.154 --> 00:04:46.822
And he goes yes.
00:04:46.822 --> 00:04:59.625
So it took me a little while and I put together some information for him and got that information in front of him, including this ginormous book of scientific proof for him, because that's what he was into.
00:04:59.625 --> 00:05:19.932
But we watched, you know, like a video, and went through some different basically it was more of the artifacts type thing and where you know all the different manuscripts are and the fact that this stuff is still there, still, you know, tangibly there, and I guess he only read like one chapter, one chapter of that scientific book.
00:05:19.932 --> 00:05:27.341
And he ended up going okay, if they can write that long of a book over scientific proof, I'm good, I'm good.
00:05:27.341 --> 00:05:32.802
So, and that wasn't the start of it, that was just kind of like okay, that's cool.
00:05:32.822 --> 00:05:55.028
But then I realized, with my research and with his knowledge, I was like wait a minute, there's nothing out there for these young adults to grab a hold of and say out there for these young adults to grab a hold of and say, in a fairly short, respectively, attention span, to go okay, here's a reason to believe, here's a reason to believe.
00:05:55.028 --> 00:06:03.250
Here's a reason to believe Because it's just like I said that big, you know, thick book type thing on one subject, or you know just a couple subjects and these kids just need something to go.
00:06:03.250 --> 00:06:04.502
Should I believe or not believe?
00:06:04.502 --> 00:06:10.790
And then at that point then you take it from there and go okay, I believe.
00:06:10.790 --> 00:06:12.814
Now where do I want to go?
00:06:12.814 --> 00:06:18.492
As far as my knowledge and further research, I, you know, I like this idea, I like what was presented.
00:06:18.492 --> 00:06:24.326
I want to go the scientific way, I want to go the historic way or I want to go, you know, just you know, into the church and go from there.
00:06:24.326 --> 00:06:26.028
So, yeah, Was.
00:06:26.048 --> 00:06:28.353
That was the book that your son read.
00:06:28.353 --> 00:06:38.634
Do you remember the title of it and who wrote it, and was it based on a, on the Christian faith, or was it just a secular book that somebody came up with?
00:06:39.961 --> 00:06:46.204
You know, I do not have that book in front of me, so I apologize, I don't have that book in front of me, so I apologize, I don't have that.
00:06:46.204 --> 00:06:49.067
It was definitely just a huge scientific book.
00:06:49.067 --> 00:07:02.120
You know, for him he said, you know he understood the first chapter, but it was really hard, you know, to really understand he goes.
00:07:02.120 --> 00:07:07.704
You know, there's no way somebody would just pick up this book and read this and feel like, hey, oh, that makes sense to me and as far as you know it was.
00:07:07.704 --> 00:07:15.288
It was I don't know if I want to say it was Christian based because, honestly, I didn't read it because it was just too much for me.
00:07:15.288 --> 00:07:20.983
I'm not of that mindset, but you know, it just kind of proved that there was a God.
00:07:21.043 --> 00:08:05.214
And I think science nowadays have gone to that point, or gone further, to that point of, oh well, because we cannot prove that there isn't a God and because certain things we cannot explain in our scientific research, there's got to be something that's larger than, you know, the Big Bang Theory or whatever they're going with at the time, that shows that there's something out there that started this, that caused this, that caused at least that initial reaction, the initial start to the universe and our DNA and how our DNA is made up and so unique for each person.
00:08:05.214 --> 00:08:08.942
You know, three billion letters long the DNA is.
00:08:08.942 --> 00:08:15.285
I mean, you know, this stuff doesn't just pop out of the air, and I think that's what the scientists are now saying.
00:08:15.285 --> 00:08:19.865
They're like this kind of stuff we can't reproduce, we can't make this happen.
00:08:19.865 --> 00:08:24.990
You know, this isn't something that, there's something else that influenced this and caused this.
00:08:25.439 --> 00:08:31.273
You mentioned that you wrote a book and it's called 21 Reasons for Trusting in God.
00:08:31.273 --> 00:08:38.072
Can you give us five of those reasons why we should trust in God?
00:08:39.644 --> 00:09:01.456
Oh, sure, sure, Well, so if you want, like that proof type thing, there's a hundred thousand artifacts in existence that will prove the biblical during the time of Jesus, that the whole gospel, like it, goes back to different sections of the gospel and proves the gospel.
00:09:01.456 --> 00:09:07.633
So that's an amazing number of artifacts that are there and available.
00:09:07.633 --> 00:09:09.825
And I mentioned the DNA.
00:09:09.825 --> 00:09:14.899
The DNA is one of the other things that kind of proves God's existence.
00:09:14.899 --> 00:09:23.434
Because they can't reproduce that that information is just unreproducible, so that's a great one.
00:09:23.434 --> 00:09:28.702
Just unreproducible, so that's a great one.
00:09:28.722 --> 00:09:32.289
One of the things that they talk about a lot in the philosophical end of things is that there has to be a cause.
00:09:32.289 --> 00:09:37.504
So if something exists, something caused it to exist.
00:09:37.504 --> 00:09:41.432
And this is more of a mental twister type thing.
00:09:41.432 --> 00:09:49.654
You know that a lot of people don't get into, but you know some do where, if there is something that exists, there had to be a cause.
00:09:49.654 --> 00:09:51.881
Therefore, if it does exist, there was a cause.
00:09:51.881 --> 00:09:53.004
What was that cause?
00:09:53.004 --> 00:09:57.614
And that's kind of a logical explanation for God.
00:10:00.942 --> 00:10:02.462
Okay, other things are miracles.
00:10:02.462 --> 00:10:19.735
Miracles are huge and I don't think they're I don't want to say in the news enough, but they're not readily available enough because they happen on a very regular basis and we just don't hear about them, don't know about them.
00:10:19.735 --> 00:10:30.221
Lot of doctors probably maybe you know know about some of those that happen, you know, in the hospital.
00:10:30.221 --> 00:10:37.321
But there's things that happen outside the hospital whether it be at Lourdes or just a prayer going into a church that happen all the time and there's no way to explain it.
00:10:37.321 --> 00:10:45.995
No way to explain it except that there is somebody larger than us that is looking out for us, protecting us and caring for us.
00:10:45.995 --> 00:10:52.653
So to me that's a huge proof as well, because I've had that happen in my own life.
00:10:53.940 --> 00:10:57.849
And then you know if you want another one, it's just health-wise.
00:10:57.849 --> 00:11:13.355
If you don't believe in God and don't have that trust in something protecting you and looking out for you, you can get really, I think, mentally kind of messed up.
00:11:13.355 --> 00:11:20.332
You know, you can get kind of really into your head thinking about all this stuff and that causes physical reactions.
00:11:20.332 --> 00:11:44.166
And so they have proven through different studies that when people believe in a God, believe in his protection, believe in his love, they calm down, their blood pressure goes down, they accept things better, they feel better, they can handle things better and, honestly, just the peace that it brings me.
00:11:44.166 --> 00:11:48.422
I you know, there's nothing else that can cause that.
00:11:48.422 --> 00:11:49.846
There's nothing else that can cause that.
00:11:49.846 --> 00:11:52.621
So those are just some quick overviews.
00:11:52.621 --> 00:11:55.107
I guess that I just gave you, but yeah.
00:11:55.749 --> 00:11:56.029
You know.
00:11:56.029 --> 00:12:20.773
Going back to the artifacts that you mentioned, that they found, you know, in the Bible readings and you know, for the Bible times, I was doing a, you know, youth group study on certain videos and they were talking about that they haven't like excavated, they only excavated like 5% of the whole area of the Bible.
00:12:20.773 --> 00:12:22.567
You know for the Bible times.
00:12:23.860 --> 00:12:29.404
Okay, yeah, yeah, so there's probably so much more there that we just don't have in our hands For the Bible times.
00:12:29.424 --> 00:12:32.447
Okay, yeah, yeah, so there's probably so much more there that we just don't have in our hands.
00:12:32.486 --> 00:12:47.383
I know they found the cross and there was a miracle that happened when they first found the cross and it was kind of how they tested, because there was three crosses right, and there's three crosses there with the two thieves and then Jesus in the middle, and they all were kind of made of the same material.
00:12:47.543 --> 00:13:16.469
They knew that it was a material from back then, but what they did is they had a lady who I don't know what her symptoms were, I don't remember at this point in time sick in some way, needed some sort of healing in some way, and they touch the crosses and when she touched what they now say is Jesus's original you know, the cross that he was crucified on she was healed, and so that's how they knew.
00:13:16.469 --> 00:13:18.900
And there's more healings that have happened since then.
00:13:18.900 --> 00:13:24.113
The cross has actually been splintered and pulled apart and I wish it hadn't.
00:13:24.113 --> 00:13:36.471
That just makes me cringe a little bit, but there's pieces of the cross that have been on display throughout the world and you know people have used that kind of just like touching his cloak when he was alive or whatever.
00:13:36.532 --> 00:13:41.388
So yeah, Tell us about your first miracle at 15.
00:13:42.912 --> 00:13:43.533
Sure, sure.
00:13:43.533 --> 00:13:50.383
So this was a big like OK, there's a God, you know, because I believed in God before that.
00:13:50.383 --> 00:13:51.504
I believed through.
00:13:51.504 --> 00:13:54.493
You know what my parents taught me through going to church.
00:13:54.659 --> 00:13:59.187
But when I was 15, I was with my friend in a car.
00:13:59.187 --> 00:14:01.913
She was just a driving age.
00:14:01.913 --> 00:14:05.408
I didn't have a seat belt on because her seat belt didn't work.
00:14:05.408 --> 00:14:05.929
I tried.
00:14:05.929 --> 00:14:11.061
This was when seatbelts were fairly new as well, so it was no big deal for me not to have a seatbelt on.
00:14:11.802 --> 00:14:25.471
But she was driving us back home and she was talking to me, just kind of looking at me, and I kind of looked up and I saw in front of me the light was red and a car coming through and there was no time for her to react.
00:14:25.471 --> 00:14:27.674
We were going straight into the car.
00:14:27.674 --> 00:14:32.565
We went straight into the car and straight into a tree.
00:14:32.565 --> 00:14:46.369
I didn't realize it at the time, but I was passed out and laying on my friend's lap, so I was actually over in the driver's side and these were big cars back then, not to age myself too much here.
00:14:46.369 --> 00:14:48.913
But I looked in the window and this is what I remember.
00:14:48.913 --> 00:14:54.666
I looked in the window and there was a gentleman there and he just looked at me and he goes are you okay?
00:14:54.666 --> 00:14:57.352
And I just kind of responded yes.
00:14:57.352 --> 00:15:06.740
And the next thing I know I was waking up, saw myself on my friend's lap got myself, you know, back together, for whatever reason.
00:15:06.860 --> 00:15:13.726
My reaction was starting to pick up my purse because my stuff flew everywhere and you know, we had then the first.
00:15:13.726 --> 00:15:16.052
I could hear the ambulance and everything coming.
00:15:16.052 --> 00:15:20.110
They were quickly coming and they came up to the window and they were asking us if we were OK.
00:15:20.110 --> 00:15:26.270
At this point my friend, you know, kind of came back to and we're like, yeah, we're okay, where's the guy?
00:15:26.270 --> 00:15:28.033
Where's the guy that was just here?
00:15:28.033 --> 00:15:30.684
This guy was just here and he asked me if I was okay.
00:15:30.684 --> 00:15:34.341
Already they're looking around and there's nobody else here.
00:15:34.341 --> 00:15:36.386
We're the first ones on the scene.
00:15:36.386 --> 00:15:38.250
Nobody's standing around.
00:15:38.250 --> 00:15:43.043
That looks like the gentleman that I described to them, so he wasn't there.
00:15:44.344 --> 00:16:01.216
To kind of further on the story, what really kind of put it at home is that when they took the car in to the junkyard because the car was totaled our car was totaled, which neither of us were injured, by the way, not, you know anything, big, just sore Took the car into the junkyard.
00:16:01.216 --> 00:16:08.063
The junkyard manager said, hey, I'm so sorry for your loss.
00:16:08.063 --> 00:16:09.467
And they're like what are you talking about?
00:16:09.467 --> 00:16:20.364
And they said, well, the junkyard manager said, well, the person that went through the windshield on the passenger side, you know, obviously passed away.
00:16:20.364 --> 00:16:29.431
I've never seen anybody live, you know, hitting the windshield like that and they're like no, she's perfectly fine at home, just a little sore.
00:16:29.431 --> 00:16:50.470
So that just kind of that whole combination of seeing that figure in the window and then knowing that I hit that windshield so hard that they thought I should have passed away, you know, that just kind of really made me feel like okay, there's somebody watching out for me and my parents, my mom even said there's a reason why you're still alive.
00:16:51.211 --> 00:16:58.413
Yeah, now, that person that was by the window asking you, are you okay?
00:16:58.413 --> 00:17:05.567
Could it have been the other driver or somebody else from the other car, or was that disproven?
00:17:07.461 --> 00:17:08.742
Yeah, the other car.
00:17:08.742 --> 00:17:13.192
There was a lady driving, nobody else, just a lady driving that car.
00:17:13.192 --> 00:17:16.910
She did get in the ambulance but she was okay in the end.
00:17:16.910 --> 00:17:24.221
You know I don't know the whole story because it was my friend's car and her driving, but she wasn't, you know, hurt to the point where she was.
00:17:24.221 --> 00:17:29.333
You know she went home that night later too, there was nobody standing around.
00:17:29.333 --> 00:17:39.765
You know, if somebody's going to come up to your car and say, are you okay, and you know the fireman, he's like we're the first ones on the scene, I, you know there's nobody else here.
00:17:39.765 --> 00:17:42.229
They don't just disappear that quickly.
00:17:42.229 --> 00:17:50.920
So you know, and typically if somebody was wanting to check on you, if you're okay, they kind of watch out and stand around and you know, yeah, yeah.
00:17:51.119 --> 00:18:12.751
So I truly believe it was an angel of some sort your bio and on your website that as you got older in your college years you started to drift away a little bit from you know from God or from your belief in God.
00:18:12.751 --> 00:18:14.474
And why was that?
00:18:16.259 --> 00:18:19.730
College years are really hard, I think, you know, for a lot of people.
00:18:19.730 --> 00:18:25.544
You want to, you want to play the college role, you want to enjoy yourself, you want to.
00:18:25.544 --> 00:18:32.865
You know you're studying, you're meeting new people, you're trying to get used to living in a dorm room with somebody else.
00:18:32.865 --> 00:18:36.019
So the last thing you usually do is just get up and go.
00:18:36.019 --> 00:18:37.623
Okay, I'm going to go to church this morning.
00:18:37.623 --> 00:18:39.026
You know, it just doesn't.
00:18:39.547 --> 00:18:46.708
I don't know why, you know it doesn't always connect with people, but that kind of, you know, I felt it.
00:18:46.708 --> 00:18:53.688
I felt immediately when I started doing that I was like, oh man, I miss that connection, I miss going to church.
00:18:53.688 --> 00:19:04.231
And it's an interesting thing because you just kind of that connection, that community that you have at church, dissipates so quickly if you're not going on a regular basis.
00:19:04.231 --> 00:19:08.490
So I think you know that just really hit home for me.
00:19:08.490 --> 00:19:11.730
I felt like I needed to go and I did try to go.
00:19:11.730 --> 00:19:41.000
I think I, you know, tried to go on occasion, went to a couple activities that they had, you know, in the social hall type thing, social hall type thing, and luckily I found a group of friends in our dorm that were very Christian and they helped, you know, introduce me to music, and we went and visited other churches and kind of re-centered myself to saying, okay, yeah, yep, I got to keep God, you know, in the forefront, or at least somewhere nearby, somewhere nearby.
00:19:46.667 --> 00:19:52.775
In your book that we mentioned earlier, you talked about trusting in God.
00:19:52.775 --> 00:19:59.420
How do you personally define and practice trust in your daily life?
00:20:00.299 --> 00:20:01.566
Yeah, that's a good question.
00:20:01.566 --> 00:20:10.188
I think putting trust in God is really a long-term, everyday thing that you have to work on.
00:20:10.188 --> 00:20:17.835
It's not, you know, I trust that he is looking over my activities and what I do.
00:20:17.835 --> 00:20:19.557
Now, I haven't always been that way.
00:20:19.557 --> 00:20:21.622
Now, I haven't always been that way.
00:20:21.642 --> 00:20:29.028
There was a long time where I felt like, okay, I believe in God, it's good, I believe in Jesus, it's good.
00:20:29.028 --> 00:20:41.356
But I'm, you know, walking through life like a lot of people do, just walking through life, doing my own thing, whether it be, you know, work, friends, whatever I'm doing, family, et cetera.
00:20:41.356 --> 00:20:49.227
But at least in those days, I wasn't giving my all to God, I wasn't giving my heart, my soul to God.
00:20:49.227 --> 00:21:20.233
And honestly, since I wrote the book, between the time that I started writing the book and even till just within the last couple of months, I really now, just now, feel like, okay, I know what it means to trust in God, because I had to get really close to him and I feel like people need to really realize that being close to God means talking to him, not just once a day, not just okay, I'm going to say a quick prayer in the morning, the Our Father in the evening and I'm done.
00:21:21.201 --> 00:21:26.866
It's a relationship and that relationship has to be fostered, just like any other relationship.
00:21:26.866 --> 00:21:36.469
It's not that he's not there for you, it's not that he doesn't love you and wants to have that relationship, but you have to put that effort in for Him to really for you to hear Him and connect with Him.
00:21:36.469 --> 00:21:45.707
It's your end that can't connect sometimes, I think, with God enough that you can really feel that full trust and that full love.
00:21:45.707 --> 00:21:49.849
It's hard to explain, but you'll feel it inside.
00:21:49.849 --> 00:21:51.746
You'll feel it inside and you'll know it.
00:21:51.987 --> 00:21:52.429
You'll know it.
00:21:53.520 --> 00:21:53.981
Every day.
00:21:53.981 --> 00:22:06.992
Now I just, you know, I ask him for his guidance, I ask him for him to protect me, to show me what to do for that day, and then at the end of the day, you know, just kind of say did I do the right thing?
00:22:06.992 --> 00:22:09.096
Please help me to do better tomorrow.
00:22:10.942 --> 00:22:26.520
Yeah, if you know, for people that are listening that may feel like they lack trust in God, how would you?
00:22:26.520 --> 00:22:26.701
You know?
00:22:26.701 --> 00:22:27.884
What encouragement would you?
00:22:27.963 --> 00:22:29.027
give to them to help them to trust in God more.
00:22:29.027 --> 00:22:33.076
Yeah, I mean, obviously as a selfish point, I would say read the book.
00:22:33.076 --> 00:22:37.948
Okay, just because trusting first of all comes with belief.
00:22:37.948 --> 00:22:43.346
Okay, you can't trust in somebody you know until you're friends with somebody, know somebody.
00:22:43.346 --> 00:22:45.172
You don't put your trust in them completely.
00:22:45.172 --> 00:22:47.667
So you have to get to know them first.
00:22:47.740 --> 00:22:51.871
You have to go through that process of who is God?
00:22:51.871 --> 00:22:53.785
Why should I believe in him?
00:22:53.785 --> 00:22:55.190
Now I believe.
00:22:55.190 --> 00:22:56.886
What do I do with this belief?
00:22:56.886 --> 00:22:58.606
Where do I go with this belief?
00:22:58.606 --> 00:23:01.067
How am I supposed to connect with him?
00:23:01.067 --> 00:23:02.285
How does he help me?
00:23:02.285 --> 00:23:03.592
Where do I connect?
00:23:03.592 --> 00:23:04.124
How do I supposed to connect with him?
00:23:04.124 --> 00:23:04.587
How does he help me?
00:23:04.587 --> 00:23:04.874
Where do I connect?
00:23:04.874 --> 00:23:05.525
How do I serve him?
00:23:05.525 --> 00:23:07.969
Or how do I you know what is my next steps?
00:23:07.969 --> 00:23:29.846
And all this has to come, and it's kind of sequential, I believe, and in your life to then, once you get all those pieces put together, that relationship is really kind of stronger, because then you know, you know in your heart that, oh, god is real, I can put my faith in him, I know he's there for me.
00:23:29.846 --> 00:23:35.329
And you just go through that process of for me and I'm just going to be Dorsey.
00:23:35.329 --> 00:23:37.253
This was one of the things that I did.
00:23:37.599 --> 00:23:45.987
After I wrote the book I'm like it brought up more questions and that's why in the book I say quite often that's okay, questions are good.
00:23:45.987 --> 00:23:56.596
Questions are good Because I needed those questions to continue my research, to continue my journey, to continue my belief myself.
00:23:56.596 --> 00:23:58.621
Because all these questions popped up.
00:23:58.621 --> 00:24:03.972
So those questions, once I got you know, started answering those questions that I had.
00:24:03.972 --> 00:24:07.465
Then I knew, okay, now I got my answers.
00:24:07.465 --> 00:24:13.227
Now I know, now I completely 100% in there and I think everybody has a different journey.
00:24:13.227 --> 00:24:18.768
Everybody's going to have a different you know timeframe in which they go through, but you have to go through it.
00:24:18.768 --> 00:24:26.663
You have to keep fighting for it and keep learning and answer those questions and find that relationship with our Lord.
00:24:28.386 --> 00:24:37.393
What challenges did you face while writing the book and how did you faith guide you through those challenges?
00:24:57.681 --> 00:24:57.740
Hmm.
00:24:57.740 --> 00:24:59.442
So challenges, you know, faith had to be there to write the book.
00:24:59.442 --> 00:25:00.963
So challenges for me were mentally am I doing the right thing?
00:25:00.963 --> 00:25:01.423
Am I hearing God?
00:25:01.423 --> 00:25:02.744
Is this what God wants me to write?
00:25:02.765 --> 00:25:18.657
I was being challenged, by friends as well, challenged by just what was happening in my world around me, whether it be finances, trying to find money to produce the book, whether it be just time frame that it took me to write the book in comparison to what I wanted.
00:25:18.657 --> 00:25:31.142
And just I felt like I was constantly being barraged by questioning myself, and I don't know that it was God questioning, I don't know.
00:25:31.142 --> 00:25:34.196
I think there was other forces making me do that.
00:25:34.196 --> 00:25:41.396
Okay, so I think there's, you know, good and evil in this world, and the evil didn't want me to write the book.
00:25:41.396 --> 00:25:46.111
So so, yeah, those challenges were there and it took actually my husband.
00:25:46.131 --> 00:25:47.551
He finally looked at me and goes we talked about this, laura.
00:25:47.551 --> 00:25:48.192
And it took actually my husband.
00:25:48.192 --> 00:25:48.893
He finally looked at me and goes.
00:25:48.893 --> 00:26:05.023
We talked about this, laura that when you write this book, that he's not going to like it, that you know Satan's going to be there and he's going to take you on a journey himself, and that's what this is right now, so go back to God and don't let him take over.
00:26:05.023 --> 00:26:06.865
So those were the.
00:26:06.865 --> 00:26:09.948
You know that was a big challenge, right?
00:26:13.210 --> 00:26:14.771
Tell us about the accident your husband had.
00:26:14.852 --> 00:26:33.810
Oh, you know and this is interesting, dorsey, because just before we got on this podcast I'm like that's right, I forgot because the accident took over my mind at the time and two days before.
00:26:33.810 --> 00:26:44.085
So it was on a weekend that my husband went up to see his mom and when he went up there he had stopped and eaten something, but he had just started a new medicine and when he got up there he started feeling bad.
00:26:44.085 --> 00:26:46.612
The next day he's like calling me going.
00:26:46.612 --> 00:26:52.423
I don't feel good, I've been throwing up, I've got something I don't know if it was the food I ate, et cetera.
00:26:52.423 --> 00:27:08.676
About four hours later I got this phone call saying from his mom going okay, took him to the hospital because he couldn't breathe and he was having such a severe allergic reaction that he went into that anaphylactic shock stage where he couldn't breathe.
00:27:08.676 --> 00:27:11.097
So I thought I lost him then.
00:27:11.990 --> 00:27:29.887
And he comes home Sunday night we go out to dinner and Monday he falls off a ladder two stories high and he ended up just totally blasting, both of you know, in the bottom half of your leg.
